- ➤ The Tusky Valley Ruritan Club held its holiday dinner on November 15 at the Tusky Valley Senior Center on the Tusky Valley School District campus, where 10 members and 11 guests enjoyed a meal catered by Kathy’s Cookies, Candies and Catering while club president Randie McRobie distributed flyers for a Super Bowl pizza fundraiser with orders accepted until January 23 and pickup on February 7. Club member Jim Downing, honored as the 2025 Ruritan of the Year after 27 years of service, is gathering material estimates for food trailer repairs—details that will be discussed at the next meeting on December 16 at the Fairfield Fire Department in Somerdale. - ➤ The Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness has launched a poster contest for Ohio students in kindergarten through eighth grade to learn about severe weather safety as part of the 2026 campaign—students may show safe actions during events like tornadoes, thunderstorms and flooding. - ➤ The Wooster City School District board is leaning toward building a new school to address aging facilities, enrollment pressures and a projected $3.5M deficit rather than making major repairs at Cornerstone Elementary. - ➤ Ohio State Highway Patrol selected Susan M. Kelley as Dispatcher of the Year at Wooster Dispatch Center for her outstanding service in 2025. She began her career in 2016 and was chosen by her peers for technical skill — teamwork in responding to public requests. The Daily Record

- ➤ Families in Ashland, Holmes, Richland and Wayne counties now have fast access to youth crisis care through The Counseling Center’s MRSS program—free, 24/7 support from trained experts who respond in 60 minutes. - ➤ The Tuscarawas Central Catholic volleyball team advanced to the state final four after recovering from a key injury but lost the state semifinal against the Senecas with only eight kills in three sets.
