- ➤ On Thanksgiving Day, November 27, most grocery stores and retail shops will be closed so workers can spend time with family — only a few chains such as Kroger, CVS, and Dollar General will operate with limited hours for last-minute needs. The Daily Record

- ➤ Pioneer Coffee Roasters won several medals at The Golden Bean, the world’s largest coffee roasting contest. The Costa Rica Double Anaerobic blend earned silver in the pour-over and filter category and bronze in espresso — while the Colombia Honey Mountain and Gold River blends each took home bronze medals. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Edison FFA team earned fifth-place honors at the National Arabian Horse Association contest in Tulsa on Oct. 24–25—four students competed by evaluating 10 classes of Arabian horses with Maddie Granatir placing 10th individually. The team qualified after placing sixth in the Ohio FFA Equine Contest last spring and is now preparing for upcoming competitions. The Bargain Hunter
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ohio law stops burning leaves in cities but lets those in townships burn yard waste if the fire stays more than 1,000 feet from a neighbor — if the fire is very large, the Ohio EPA must be told. Residents can also follow local trash pickup rules or mow their leaves to help return nutrients to the soil. The Daily Record

- ➤ ODOT has reopened both southbound lanes on a six-mile stretch of Route 21 in Wayne County while northbound traffic remains limited to one lane until further improvements reopen it soon. Safety enhancements at four intersections are finishing during winter—final pavement work is expected by June next year. The Daily Record

- ➤ The Triway Titans lost 34–33 in overtime to Genoa Area on Friday, Nov. 14 — marking a historic playoff run led by senior players. Coach Cody Kelly said the close loss showed the team’s aggressive spirit and that they will train hard to improve next season. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Hiland girls basketball coach Brady Schlabach returned from a five-day camp in Italy led by Alex Sarama to learn a new constraints-led approach that will bring faster, freer play to the Lady Hawks.
