- ➤ Fairlawn Mennonite Church in Apple Creek will host its third annual Sisters in Christ Women’s Retreat on Jan. 24, 2026 with author Judy Dunagan leading a day of worship, breakout sessions, and fellowship for women high school and older. Registration is open with an early-bird discount available through Nov. 30 (doors open at 8 a.m. and the event ends at 4 p.m.). The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ On Nov 2, local residents and volunteers held a food drive on Wooster square to help families affected by the SNAP benefit pause—about 125 people received donations from items like mac and cheese, eggs, and canned goods. The Wooster Advocacy Group organized the event as community members stepped in while state lawmakers consider options. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Wayne County Health Department and Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will host a drive-thru food pantry on Nov 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 244 W. South St for families with incomes at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (for example, a family of four earning up to $62,400 qualifies) and guests should enter through the alley off Walnut Street (volunteers can call 330-264-9590 ext. 207). - ➤ Camp Pee Wee Hollow added two new pavilions and a shed to its 206-acre property to give over 500 scouts and leaders better shelter and comfort, and the camp road was improved along with upgrades to an existing storage shed and a new map display—these projects were funded by a Wayne County Community Foundation grant and camp anniversary donations. Pee Wee Hollow Inc. provided volunteer labor to complete the enhancements for local Scouting America and Girl Scouts. The Daily Record

- ➤ Wayne County 4-H is recruiting new volunteers for the 2026 program year and invites interested individuals to apply online by Dec. 1. All new volunteers must complete interviews, online and in-person training, and pass Ohio BCI and FBI background checks—requirements to support local youth clubs, camps and fair events. - ➤ Haagen-Dazs is recalling chocolate dark chocolate mini bars sold at Kroger + Giant Eagle because the bars may contain undeclared wheat that could cause severe allergic reactions. The recalled 6-count package with batch code LLA519501 and Best By date of January 31, 2027 is available in numerous states including Ohio, and buyers with wheat allergies should return the product for a refund. - ➤ The Ohio Cardinal Conference released its all-conference football teams on November 5, and Wooster football players earned honors. Kaden Houser was named to the first team & Logan Gattuso Jr. was named to the second team while Darrius Howard, Samuel Schantz and Javon Mosley received honorable mention. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Seven local high school volleyball players earned statewide honors from the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association, with Wooster's Sara Snowbarger and Triway's Taylor Mathis selected for the first team—Snowbarger ended her career with strong numbers and will attend Indiana University.
