COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wooster and nearby towns will have many events from today through October, including a school meeting at the museum on Thursday at 6 p.m., a farmers' market with music by Tim Shue & Friends on Saturday, and a concert by Doghouse Roses at Ashland Golf Club on Friday—other events feature art shows, races and support groups—and promise a busy summer and fall season.  The Daily Record

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Curry Pot in Wooster will host America's Best Restaurants Roadshow on Aug 5 from 2-5 p.m. to film an episode+ featuring an extensive interview with owners Renoy and Tania Barua as they highlight their popular menu and community role.  The Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Thirteen students graduated from the free ExploreAg camp held at Ohio State ATI in Wooster after a week of hands-on learning about farming careers. They learned from industry experts, scientists, and educators about job opportunities in Ohio's farm and food industries — from agronomy to legal roles.  The Daily Record
  • Wayne County 4-H held its Style Revue and Awards at the Shisler Center where over 150 youth presented projects in clothing, STEM, and other areas—winners were named state fair representatives for the Ohio State Fair competition. The event showcased top talent and set the stage for future contests.  The Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • The top high school boys soccer teams in the area are set to fill big gaps as several lose key seniors and rely on returning stars—teams like Wooster Generals, Hiland, Central Christian, Norwayne, and Smithville are making plans for the season. Wooster Generals will count on Calen Relle and Tyler Hill while other schools are naming new players to watch as they prepare for tough play this fall.  The Daily Record
  • The high school girls soccer season will begin August 15th as area teams adjust for lost talent and returning players. Chippewa is predicted to lead while the Wooster Generals must replace star forward Gabi Signorino — rankings show that fresh talent could change the game this fall.  The Daily Record
  • Hiland and Waynedale high school baseball teams have won several state titles over the last four years — their strong youth programs and better facilities have raised the quality of play in our area. Local coaches say this success has set the stage for more players to move on to college teams.  The Daily Record
