COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Rainbow of Hope, a charity that supports families with sick children, will host its annual benefit auction at Mt. Hope Event Center on July 25-26—featuring an auctioneer’s contest, a fish fry, and bidding on items ranging from furniture to livestock. The two-day event will raise funds to provide care for children in need.  The Bargain Hunter
  • Goodwill Industries of Wayne and Holmes Counties will hold its Big Haul Sale at the Wayne County Fairgrounds on Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. + 3 p.m. during Ohio's sales tax holiday Aug. 1-14, letting shoppers fill a bag with unsorted items for $5. Clothing, shoes, books, toys and discounted furniture will be available + 90 cents of every dollar spent will go to local job training and case management programs.  The Daily Record

  • OneEighty was designated a Top Workplaces for the fourth year in a row by Cleveland.com & the Plain Dealer on July 14 after 79% of employees completed a survey affirming its strong mission and culture.   • Carrie Snyder from Wooster is named the new executive director of Ohio Right to Life following Mike Gonidakis’s departure after 17 years—she brings over 15 years of board service and local volunteer work and will focus on legislative and educational efforts to protect vulnerable women and children.  The Daily Record

  • Viola Startzman Clinic will host its 30th anniversary gala on Aug. 15 at Greystone Event Center in Wooster—featuring dinner, sponsorships and patient stories to help fund accessible health care. The event supports the clinic’s growing need to serve patients with quality care.  The Daily Record
