- ➤ The Wayne County Historical Society Summer Community Band will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. on July 17 in downtown Wooster—if it rains, the event will move to St. Mary’s Church gymnasium. They will then perform again at 7 p.m. on July 22 at Sonnenberg Village with a rain backup in the village barn. The Daily Record
- ➤ The Wayne County Historical Society has released the third set of Civil War letters from the Stibbs family that reveal how life unfolded in 1863 in Wooster. Ninety percent of sales from the letters—available to historians, educators and Civil War enthusiasts—will support the Beall Stibbs House at 546 E. Bowman St. The Daily Record

- ➤ The Postal Service will raise first-class Forever Stamp prices starting July 13 — one-ounce letters will cost 78¢ instead of 73¢ and a book of 20 stamps will increase from $14.60 to $15.60 — pending Postal Regulatory Commission approval. The Daily Record
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is using drones to scan Wayne County for orphaned gas wells that risk public safety and water quality. Advanced aerial magnetic surveys will help locate abandoned wells so they can be plugged — protecting local water supplies. The Daily Record

- ➤ The Wayne County Board of Commissioners will hold two public hearings on property tax reduction and a new sales and use tax replacement on July 16 and July 23 at 7 p.m. at The Commons at the Wayne County Schools Career Center in Smithville—residents and business owners are urged to attend and share their views. - ➤ The extension office warns that the aggressive Asian Longhorn Tick poses a risk for people and animals this year — property owners should clear brush, wear long sleeves and use tick repellent, while livestock owners check animals and work with their vets; anyone bitten can submit a tick for testing.
