  • John Yost from OSU Extension shared hay storage tips to reduce nutrient loss by advising farmers to stack bales in covered, well-drained areas—he also announced the Dairy Summit and Twilight Tour on July 15 and a cow feeding clinic on August 8 to help local growers improve feed quality.  The Daily Record

CULTURE NEWS

  • Orr Valley Creamery offers buy-one-get-one free ice cream scoops every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m. as part of National Ice Cream Month, while other summer events include live music at Lincoln Way Vineyards on Thursday, a dog-friendly happy hour at Troutman Vineyards on Friday, and both an arts and crafts luau and the 1920s musical Tip-Toes at Barnes Preserve and the College of Wooster on Saturday—providing many choices for residents.  The Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • United Way Wayne and Holmes Counties and Wayne County Public Library held spring Reading Under the Lights events that provided over 12,600 books to 2,380 students from Wooster and nearby schools—local schools have planned summer Read and Play Nights to keep children engaged in reading.  The Bargain Hunter

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A black bear was seen in Wooster this weekend and officials said it is likely a young male passing through without planned intervention. Residents are advised to secure attractants—like trash and bird feeders—and contact authorities only if there is an emergency.  The Daily Record

  • Ohio’s Hospice will hold the Always My Child — Parent Grief bereavement workshop on July 14 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. at the Marilyn B. and Mark E. Gustafson Center for Supportive Care in Wooster to help parents and families learn coping strategies after loss.  The Bargain Hunter
