Good morning, Wooster. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 19th of June.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wayne County Humane Society held a ribbon cutting on June 18 for its new surgical center that replaces a 42-year-old trailer and will provide modern care for over 1,200 animals—boosting local Trap, Neuter and Release campaigns to control overpopulation. The center is a result of a two-year fund drive supported by many donors and the efforts of an active leadership team.  The Bargain Hunter
  • A monthly market—style food pantry at the Wayne County Health Department parking lot in Wooster gives residents fresh groceries and lets them choose food that meets their needs. Sponsored by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and county staff, the pantry connects families to health and social services and will next operate on July 8.  The Daily Record
  • A full schedule of community events is set in Wooster and nearby towns this week — including free concerts at Public Square today, a June Concert & Cruise-In Friday downtown, a family chicken barbecue on June 20, art shows at Ashland University, and food festivals in Jeromesville. These events offer live music, cultural exhibitions, and family gatherings through the summer.  The Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • On June 18th, the Waynedale Golden Bears won their third state baseball title in four seasons with a 3 to 0 win over St. Paris Graham at Canal Park after a 2 to 1 victory over Coldwater. The win ended last season's loss and capped a record 30 win season — a strong team effort marked by key plays from Hudson Barkman, Shane Coblentz and Logan Troyer.  The Bargain Hunter
