- ➤ Yesterday, the Wayne County Community Youth Foundation awarded $20,300 in grants to eight local organizations—student advisers had reviewed 16 proposals before making the recommendations. The awards will fund programs for youth such as mental health support, adaptive resources and infant safety education—providing high school students with hands-on experience in local philanthropy. - ➤ Wayne County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center staff and PAWS volunteers showcased adoptable dogs at Pet Supplies Plus in Wooster on June 9 to encourage residents to adopt amid overcrowded shelter conditions. Shelter Director Katelyn Lehman said dogs are house-trained, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered for an adoption fee of $98 — a rate that frees up space for more animals. The Bargain Hunter
