  • Farmers National Bank expanded its investment team by hiring Justin Shetler for the Wooster downtown office and Shaun Soukenik for the Beachwood branch—Shetler brings 14 years of financial services experience while Soukenik has over 11 years in banking.  The Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the BPA National Leadership Conference held May 7—11 in Orlando, two Buckeye Career Center students won national championships as Madison Harmon took first place in Fundamental Word Processing and Danny Dews won the national title in Personal Finance Management. HEALTH NEWS

  • Tuesday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Wayne County Health Department and Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will host a market-style food pantry at 244 W. South St., Wooster for families at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level—volunteers are needed to help one hour before and 30 minutes after the event while keeping nearby parking for clients and staff open.  The Daily Record
  • Asian Longhorn Ticks are spreading in southern Wayne County and can reproduce rapidly—laying up to 2,000 eggs—while posing risks to both livestock and people; local experts advise controlling vegetation, checking for ticks often, and consulting veterinarians on effective treatments, with OSU Extension offering tick testing services and hosting informational booths at upcoming Mt. Hope auctions. This guidance helps residents protect their health and animals as tick populations remain high.  The Daily Record
