EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Quota Club of Wayne County awarded $7,450 in scholarships to five local students studying speech and language, including Wooster High School graduates Camryn Nelson and Brooklyn Nolletti. Nelson will attend Miami University and Nolletti will study at Kent State University—three other recipients are also pursuing university or graduate studies in speech fields. The Daily Record

- ➤ A mild winter has led to an early tick season that raises the risk of Lyme disease for dogs and people in Wooster. Kirsten Eshler from Wayne County Dog Shelter said pet owners should check dogs daily—especially under collars and behind ears—after outdoor time. The Daily Record
- ➤ Nurse Charles Wilbur at Pomerene Hospital received the 2025 Daisy Award on May 8 for his caring work with patients. He and his family ended their time living in a camper+moved into a new home in Holmes County after his fast hiring. The Bargain Hunter

- ➤ The College of Wooster women’s lacrosse team won its first NCAA Tournament game on May 9 by beating Hope College 20-9 at Papp Stadium, marking its seventh championship appearance and 17th win of the season — juniors Bella Woodbury, Lizzie Hardy, and Brynne Snaguski each scored four goals while keeper Audrey Richardson made five saves.
