COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wooster Fireworks Inc. is asking community members for donations to cover the $22,000 cost of the July 4 Community Fireball and Fireworks Celebration. The Wooster Exchange Club has already contributed $10,000 — local businesses and residents are asked to donate the remaining funds to help offset rising insurance and security costs.  The Bargain Hunter
  • The Glenmont Alumni Banquet is scheduled at Glenmont School on Saturday, June 7 to gather former students and local residents for a social hour (5 p.m.) and a catered dinner (6 p.m.). The event will honor longtime member Larry Gray, include planned prizes, and invite late registrants to call by May 27.  The Bargain Hunter
  • PAWS is starting a summer fundraiser to help the Wayne County Dog Shelter by raising money for a mobile spay, neuter and adoption trailer. The Sip-n-Sniff event will be on June 7 at Bent Ladder Cider and Wine at 13550 Mt. Eaton Road N. in Doylestown and will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with children’s activities until 2 p.m. and adult events afterward.  The Daily Record

  • Orr Valley Creamery and Michael’s Bakery joined forces on May 25th to launch handcrafted sponge dough buns at their Orrville and Wooster locations—created with a two-stage fermentation process that improved flavor, softness, and shelf life without additives while boosting record sales during a menu refresh.  The Bargain Hunter

CULTURE NEWS

  • Holmes Center for the Arts will offer spring and summer workshops, camps and classes for children, teens and adults with sessions scheduled from June 3 to Aug. 14 — programs include superhero-themed camps, cartooning camps with a local artist and ceramics, art and travel sketch classes costing between $32 and $100. The offerings will provide varied creative experiences for different age groups.  The Bargain Hunter

HEALTH NEWS

  • Holmes County Commissioners recognized May as Mental Health Month when they met with local mental health leaders—Nicole Williams of the Mental Health & Recovery Board and Mark Woods of Anazao Community Partners—to honor local services and encourage residents to seek help. They also announced a search for a new board member to strengthen local mental health efforts.  The Bargain Hunter
