CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Main Street Wooster announced on May 23 that local artist Allison Allison installed a utility box wrap near the reopened Lyric Theater at 116 E. South St. The project—which is the second decorative wrap downtown and was made possible by a Wayne County Community Foundation grant—celebrates local arts with images of musical scores, film reels and creative designs. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Triway High School held its first graduation at the new K-12 building today where 94 seniors received their diplomas, including a special honor for Staff Sgt. Eugene R. Leyda—an alumnus from 1948 who missed his own graduation. The ceremony featured speeches and processional music that marked a significant milestone for the school. The Daily Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A hazardous materials emergency response training exercise will take place in Wooster on May 28 from 9 a.m. to noon near Akron and Geyers Chapel Roads and at Wooster Community Hospital—emergency teams from Wayne County Emergency Management Agency, Wooster Community Hospital, and local fire and HAZMAT units will coordinate simulated response actions while the public may see vehicles and personnel in protective gear with no actual emergency occurring. - ➤ The Ohio Department of Health and Wayne County Health Department are urging residents to remove standing water from flowerpots, gutters and tires—helping stop mosquitoes from breeding—and lower the risk of diseases such as Eastern equine encephalitis, La Crosse encephalitis, St. Louis encephalitis and West Nile virus.
