- ➤ Orrville Railroad Heritage Society will present its second annual Kids Day on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Orrville YMCA at 1801 Smucker Road—this free event, relocated due to construction near the Depot, will offer animal shows, model train displays, magic tricks and other family activities. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Artist Jennifer Sullivan painted a large mural in the hallway of the new Mennonite Central Committee resource building in Kidron that shows people from around the world getting food, water, and help—she spent almost two months on the project and said the work deepened her connection to the people it honors. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Artistic director Steven Daigle of the Ohio Light Opera will retire after the 2026 season, ending a 36-season tenure — and longtime member Jacob Allen will take over as the new artistic director. Daigle, who guided more than 175 productions, will help with the transition over the next two summer seasons. The Daily Record

- ➤ NASA reports that signs show T Coronae Borealis may go nova soon+ the explosion will make the star as bright as Polaris and visible in Corona Borealis. This rare event will last about a week+ giving skywatchers in Wooster a chance to see the bright new star. The Daily Record
- ➤ Aultman will host a free Summer Symposium and Career Fair on June 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Aultman Education Center Amphitheater for students interested in health care careers — registration will end on June 5. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Kaitlynn Henninge, a Dover native (Clarion graduate), is stepping into her role as Family and Consumer Sciences Educator for Ohio State University Extension in Wayne County after boosting SNAP-Ed program outreach in Tuscarawas County. She will continue programs like Steps To Home Ownership and Dining With Diabetes while planning new classes to meet local needs and is set to marry her fiancé later this month (soon-to-be husband Jason).
