COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Romich Foundation Makerspace in Creston supports 90 nonprofits by creating custom plaques, signs & educational materials for local events. County commissioners honored its work today with a letter recognizing support for students and community programs. The Daily Record
- ➤ Wayne County held an event at the Greystone Event Center in Wooster on May 11 to honor child protection efforts. Steven Hunter was named the 2025 Children Services Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, and Bobbi Douglas received the 2025 Child Advocate Award (recognizing their vital work with children). - ➤ Wayne County Historical Society Summer Community Band invites musicians to join rehearsals at Scheide Music Center starting May 20 — the band will perform two concerts in downtown Wooster, with one during the America 250 event on July 5 and the main show on July 16 where attendees should bring their own chairs. - ➤ The free Levitt AMP concert series will showcase national and regional acts downtown starting May 27 and running select Wednesdays through Aug. 19 at the Wayne Center for the Arts lawn + food vendors and picnic options are available. The Daily Record

- ➤ Four Northwestern Wayne FFA students (Addy Connelly, Makenna Connelly, Brooke Hershey, and Jaycee Reed) competed in the state Floriculture Career Development Event on April 13 and placed 16th. The Daily Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wayne County Commissioners recognized Orrville-based Jarrett for its growth and innovation when they awarded the company a Letter of Special Recognition on May 11. The honor highlights how the firm strengthens local industry and supports jobs in the region. The Daily Record
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Falls Prevention Program of Holmes & Wayne will offer free A Matter of Balance classes in Big Prairie from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays starting June 2 until July 21 to help older adults reduce fall risks; 11 spots are available. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Valley Hospice received a $150,000 anonymous grant and will add a nurse practitioner to expand its in-home palliative care program + improve access for patients and families. The Bargain Hunter

- ➤ Vote for the Wayne/Holmes County Athlete of the Week is open until 5 p.m. Wednesday for candidates with performances from May 4-8 - the poll started at 4 a.m. Monday and features top athletes such as Hayden McFadden and Cierra Kemery. The Daily Record
- ➤ The Wooster Daily Record released its final softball power rankings with Norwayne leading at 11-0 and a close three-team race for the WCAL title among Norwayne, Dalton, and Hillsdale; Hillsdale (second in standings) meets Dalton today and more key games are set for later this week.
