COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The third Orrville Day of Caring saw 431 volunteers work on 73 projects at 32 organizations—70 were senior residents who took part in the effort.  The Daily Record
  • EAA Chapter 1077 will host its annual pancake breakfast on Memorial Day weekend at Harry Clever Airport to bring together rotorcraft pilots, aviation fans, and local families. The event is set for May 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will serve pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee while supporting Student Pilot Grants and offering free breakfasts to veterans.  The Bargain Hunter

  • Wooster native Darrin Nash has been selected as the new principal of Kean Elementary pending board approval — he returns home after years of service in Utah — and will spend the summer transitioning with his family.  The Bargain Hunter
  • Frank Becker of OSU Extension warned gardeners that AI-generated pictures of plants are causing confusion and may lead to scam sales of seeds and cuttings. He advised checking plant details and consulting trusted local vendors—steps that can help avoid being misled by fake images.  The Bargain Hunter

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tomatoes sold in 14 states—including Ohio—were recalled because they might contain salmonella. The FDA advised shoppers to return the products to the store or discard them for a refund.  The Daily Record
