  • Justine Geiser, a lifelong resident of Wooster, will turn 100 on May 26—her century birthday is a milestone for the community.  The Daily Record
  • Widows, Widowers and Friends—a support group for those who lost loved ones or never married—recently met at Des Dutch Essenhaus and planned a series of events. The group will host bingo at Smithville Western Care Center at 2 p.m. on May 30 with registration ending May 23, will celebrate Vera’s 100th birthday at 1 p.m. on May 14, will hold a show at Ohio Star Theatre on May 29, and will meet on June 3 and July 8.  The Daily Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Team NEO's new CEO, Matt Dolan, visited local companies in Wayne County and met with the Economic Development Council's board to discuss business growth—he toured facilities at Seaman Corporation and Schaeffler and talked about workforce development and infrastructure improvements. This visit aimed to build stronger regional ties and boost local business opportunities.  The Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Cavaliers lost Game 2 to the Pacers 120-119 on May 6 when Tyrese Haliburton hit a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left, and coach Kenny Atkinson said he will give more bench minutes as the team struggles with injuries — meanwhile the Browns added picks like Mason Graham and others in the draft to help boost their roster. Local standout Blake Bowen, a two-time first-team All-Ohioan at Wooster, underwent surgery for a torn labrum and will work hard in therapy to return next season.  The Bargain Hunter
