COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents can join the ODOT meeting today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Keim Home Center in Charm to discuss safety improvements on Routes 39 and 557. Other events—Food Truck Wednesdays beginning tomorrow at Smithville, a Mother's Day Market and Plant Discovery Day on Saturday in Wooster, and an Equine Excellence Expo on Saturday at the ATI Equine Center in Apple Creek—offer more ways for locals to participate in community activities.  The Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • 4-H camping season is set to begin with Cloverbud Day Camp held from 1 a.m.-noon June 3-5 at Fisher Auditorium on OSU Wooster Campus for children ages 5 through kindergarten, and will continue with Junior Camp from June 30-July 3 at Camp Ohio in Louisville for members ages 8-13—registration ends May 24 for Cloverbud and June 1 for Junior Camp.  The Daily Record

  • The Eta Aquarids meteor shower peaked early this morning with up to 15 shooting stars per hour just before dawn—though rain and a bright moon limited views across Ohio.  The Daily Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Air travelers in Ohio must carry a Real ID that has a star on the upper right—this card or an approved alternative is required to pass TSA checks starting May 7. Anyone updating their driver’s license at the BMV must bring documents that show their legal name, birth date, U.S. presence, Social Security number, and Ohio address.  The Daily Record
