COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Wooster Emblem Club—founded in 1917 during World War I—continues donating a US flag that is flown at the Wayne Courthouse to honor local patriotism. Wayne County Commissioner Matt Martin said the flag makes the county look good and stands for freedom.  The Daily Record
  • Residents in Wooster and nearby counties have many events planned in the coming days—Friday’s Wooster Chorus concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday’s Cars and Coffee cruise beginning at 8:30 a.m. from Alice Noble Ice Arena with a drive to Mount Vernon, and Newsies musical auditions on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday ahead of shows in late June. Other events include bingo, children’s concerts, car shows, and more, with several fundraisers to help local charities.  The Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Joey Day is set to lead Wooster City School District athletics pending board approval and will begin his role after six years at Marysville High School — he will move to Wooster this summer to start his new job.  The Daily Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Food and Drug Administration recalled several types of bread sold at Ohio Giant Eagle stores after glass fragments were found on products from Upper Crust Bakery, and no injuries were reported. Customers are advised to return or dispose of the recalled bread immediately.  The Daily Record
  • Trader Joe’s voluntarily recalled a limited batch of Sesame Miso Salad with Salmon for an undeclared milk allergen—about 500 units were sold in Ohio and 17 other states with a mistaken inclusion of parmesan cheese crumbles; customers with milk allergies should discard the product.  The Daily Record
