- ➤ Orrville United Way honored over 400 volunteers who contributed nearly 2,600 hours and announced the Further Together Grant of $30,000 to support Orrville, Dalton and Marshallville at its Celebrating Community, Honoring Volunteers event held on April 8—Sarah Colucy received the lifetime achievement award while Seo Conrad received the 'Yes!' award. - ➤ Shreve Elementary has been named a national finalist in the Harlem Globetrotters’ Court of Creativity contest and won $1,000 from Jersey Mike’s Subs for a video project created by two fifth graders that combined basketball with learning—one grand prize winner will be selected by the end of the school year to receive a Harlem Globetrotters visit. - ➤ Wooster High hired Ray Leek as its new head football coach after he accepted the position on April 15 and left his job at Dalton. Leek plans to build a strong program that values academics and athletic success—community members can meet him on April 21 at 7 p.m. in the Wooster Main Gym. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ On April 15, Waynedale beat Northwestern 17—3 and Norwayne edged Chippewa 2—1 in baseball while Northwestern won 7—2 and Norwayne swept Chippewa 19—1 in softball. On April 14, Wooster lost 5—3 in baseball to West Holmes and 3—2 in softball to Loudonville, and Walsh Jesuit won 10—8 over Wooster in girls lacrosse. The Daily Record
