CULTURE NEWS

  • Wooster United Methodist Church will hold Easter services starting Monday, April 14 with noon concerts each day through Friday, April 18. The church will also host a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.—featuring a drama on the Last Supper—and an Easter Sunday service at 10 a.m. followed by an egg hunt.  The Daily Record

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ruby-throated hummingbirds will return to Ohio around April 20 from their winter migration from Mexico and South America. Local naturalist James Anderson in Marion says residents can attract the birds by planting native flowers, setting out feeders with a simple sugar water solution, and placing old fruit to draw insects — regular cleaning of feeders is needed to keep the nectar safe.  The Daily Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The League of Woman Voters will hold a meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Wooster High School, 515 Oldman Road to explain the differences between bonds and levies and show how these may affect personal taxes. Speakers including Wayne County Board of Elections Director Julie Leathers Stahl and Wayne County Auditor Russell Robertson will lead the discussion — representatives from Wooster City, Waynedale, Hillsdale and Norwayne schools will join breakout sessions for voters with ballot levies on May 6.  The Daily Record
  • Residents in Wooster voiced concerns at a City Council meeting Monday about the proposed roundabout at Burbank Road — Oldman Road — and Winkler Drive, noting risks to children, the elderly and visually impaired pedestrians and potential property loss. Council members said they will review the feedback and may delay the project to consider alternative solutions.  The Daily Record
