COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 800 people gathered at Wooster square on Saturday for the local version of the national Hands Off protest — the event drew a large community crowd to express their views.  The Daily Record

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Cantate Singers will perform their spring concert at Christ Church UCC in Orrville on April 13 at 5:00 p.m.—vocalists from Wayne and nearby counties will sing pieces by Haydn, Brahms, Dvorak, Lauridsen, Hagenberg, Kopek and Eklund—and will invite a freewill offering to support their work.  The Bargain Hunter

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Maddison Hofstetter from Orrville was one of six nominees for the Ohio Youth of the Year award announced at a luncheon in Columbus. She said the club has helped her make friends and build confidence and plans to attend the University of Akron to pursue a career in law enforcement.  The Daily Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new health report shows Wayne County had lower teen birth rates and fewer drug overdose deaths than state and national averages. Health officials said the county benefits from lower smoking and obesity rates but faces challenges with mental health and limited primary care access (with a 2,500:1 resident-to-doctor ratio) and urged residents to follow preventive measures.  The Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • Final boys' basketball season numbers show that Wayne County Athletic League teams led in seven of the top 10 parts of the season and four teams reached regional play. Top players include Kodah Allen, Judah Layton and Brady Hignight—each posting strong numbers in points, rebounds or assists.  The Daily Record
