CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The County Line Historical Society of Wayne/Holmes will host a free program on April 19 at 1 p.m. at Historic Shreve Presbyterian Church to examine the 1947 Amish Miting Trial involving Andrew J. Yoder and four Amish Mennonite church leaders—Retired Judge Mark K. Wiest will share his perspective as a former trial judge and explain how the trial affected Yoder's work and family life. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rathburn Road will be closed to through traffic for 21 days starting Monday as Wayne County road crews (from the Engineer's Office) replace the bridge between Route 250 and Lehr, and a detour (Route 250 to Firestone Road to Lehr Road) will be in place with detour signs posted. The Daily Record
- ➤ Gov. Mike DeWine signed a law in January that will take effect Wednesday and end driver's license suspensions for unpaid fines and fees—one of about 600,000 debt-related suspensions issued between 2016 and 2020. The Ohio BMV will work with local courts until May 9 to lift these suspensions, mail out reinstatement instructions, and cease vehicle registration blocks for unpaid fines. The Daily Record
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Ohio State University Extension will offer the free Stepping On program for adults aged 60 and older—designed to teach balance exercises, home safety modifications and medication reviews—to help prevent falls at Shreve Community Church, 430 N. Main St., every Wednesday from April 23 through June 4 at 10 a.m. to noon. The Daily Record

- ➤ Area girls basketball teams released their final season statistical leaders today as Breanna McCabe averaged 19.9 points per game while Joplin Yoder and Brooke Ritchie also recorded high total scores. Other players ranked among the leaders in rebounds, assists and shooting percentages — the final leaderboard shows strong season performances from teams across the area. The Daily Record
