CRIME NEWS

  • Wooster Police said a suspect in a license plate theft fired at officers during a traffic stop that led to a chase and a crash at Cleveland Road and state Route 3 — he was shot and taken to the hospital while law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the incident.  The Daily Record
  • During Wednesday afternoon, Wooster, Dalton and Wayne County sheriff's officers joined State Patrol officers in chasing a vehicle that ended north of the bypass at Route 3 + Cleveland Road after shots were fired, injuring one man and damaging several cruisers.  The Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wayne County students in grades K-12 are invited to join the annual Conservation Poster Contest — using the theme 'Home is where the Habitat is' — which awards cash prizes to winners and advances top posters to a state competition. Entries must be submitted to the Wayne Soil and Water Conservation District office in Wooster or electronically by 4:30 p.m. April 25.  The Daily Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Trader Joe’s is recalling its Hot Honey Mustard Dressing because the label lacks allergen warnings—peanuts, soy, sesame, and wheat—and shoppers in Ohio and other states must return the product for a refund or discard it.  The Daily Record
  • The American Heart Association announced that the Heart Walk, led by Jody Starcher and Sue Smail, will take place on Sept. 25 at Kean Elementary and Kinney Fields to raise funds to fight heart disease and boost CPR training in Wayne County—hundreds are expected to join this event.  The Daily Record

  • Final wrestling leaderboards have been released showing detailed records across weight classes; Waynedale wrestlers led in winning percentages and pin falls — marking a strong season for local athletes.
