EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Feb.28, 12 Northwestern Wayne FFA members showcased their skills at the OSU ATI Career Development Event, competing in dairy cattle and general livestock judging contests. They earned top placements and demonstrated strong mastery in livestock evaluation + herd management.  The Daily Record
  • The County Line Historical Society of Wayne/Holmes will host a free program on Saturday, Mar. 21 at 1 p.m. at Shreve Presbyterian Church (343 N. Market St.) that explores 14,000 years of local geological and archaeological history; geology professor Nigel Brush will explain how rocks and fossils reveal the area's past.  The Daily Record
  • OSU Extension is offering two training events for local farmers: an online fertilizer certification webinar on March 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for first-time applicators and a two-week Small Farm College on April 8, 9, 15, and 16 at the CFAES Wooster Campus Fisher Auditorium (registration required).  The Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • Waynedale junior Brock Beckler competed at the state wrestling tournament on March 15 in Columbus and finished second in the 120-pound championship after a close 4-2 match decided in the final 30 seconds. He advanced with wins that included a tech fall in the opening round.  The Daily Record
  • Isaak Skelly lost 5-0 to Tyler Barnes in the Division III 126-pound championship match & earned a silver medal after scoring three pins in the semifinal against defending champion Scotty Fuller. He added the win to a record season for Waynedale with ten wrestlers advancing to state.  The Daily Record
