COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Downtown Wooster now displays new banners celebrating The Wooster Brush Company's 175th anniversary and spotlighting eight local nonprofits (part of the Downtown Wooster Banner Program running until mid-May).  The Daily Record
  • The Akron Canton Regional Food Bank now uses the former Smucker retail store on State Route 57 as its Wayne County branch and hosted an open house today with community leaders in attendance. Wooster Mayor Bob Reynolds said the new facility will boost food distribution — improving access for local residents.  The Daily Record

CULTURE NEWS

  • Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is expected to begin on the evening of March 19 or March 20 depending on the moon sighting. Local mosques plan to hold prayer services + family gatherings as families prepare to celebrate the holiday.  The Daily Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • Medicare now covers up to eight counseling sessions and certain prescription drugs to help Wooster seniors quit smoking—this benefit can lower the risk of heart disease and stroke. Local seniors can speak with their doctor or call a quit line to set a quit date.  The Bargain Hunter
