  • Residents connected with local history at the Wayne County Public Library event on Friday, Mar. 13 — genealogists and DAR members shared documents and stories in honor of America's 250th anniversary. The library partnered with historical groups to offer research access and celebrate local heritage.  The Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • JVS criminal justice students welcomed a bearded dragon named Judge as their class pet on March 12. Instructor Jamie Freeman set up a rotating care schedule for students to take Judge home + use coupons from the Pets in the Classroom project.  The Bargain Hunter
  • Buckeye Career Center is hosting its annual Career Connections Career Fair on Friday, April 17 from 11:50 a.m. to 2 p.m., where local businesses can meet students preparing for careers. Employers must register for free by April 12 & lunch is provided during setup.  The Bargain Hunter

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Three EF0 tornadoes touched down in Shelby and Auglaize counties on March 11, 2026, causing damage to barns and uprooted trees while a microburst injured two near Upper Sandusky at 11:08 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. No deaths occurred in Ohio.  The Daily Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Older Ohioans can apply for HEAP assistance to help pay heating bills from the Ohio Department of Development and the Area Agency on Aging, Region 9 until May 31.
