COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Wooster will display banners honoring eight nonprofits from mid-March through mid-May as part of The Wooster Brush Company's 175th anniversary celebration. The banners, placed on light poles, highlight groups including Boys & Girls Club and United Way. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ The Wooster Friends of the Library will host a Spring Book Sale from March 19 to 21 at the Operations Center, 304 N. Market St. Shoppers can expect science fiction, western, and large print books, children’s titles plus music CDs and DVDs at bargain rates. The Daily Record
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Northwestern FFA members Brooke Hershey and Carmen Guidetti competed at Marysville High School on March 7, placing tenth (Brooke) and ninth (Carmen) in state public speaking contests. They delivered speeches on agriculture and creed topics that highlighted their skills. The Daily Record
- ➤ During February's evaluation, West Holmes FFA members earned recognition for agricultural projects and officer record keeping; several will be honored on stage at the State Convention in May and progress to the National Evaluation for American Degrees in November. The Daily Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wayne County plans to replace the nearly century-old Bank Street bridge in Apple Creek with a 30 foot wide box-beam bridge that features 5 foot bike lanes each side. Construction by McConnell Contracting Inc. will begin in late July or early August — federal funds cover the $805,000 project. The Daily Record

- ➤ Ohio lawmakers are considering a bill that would let pharmacists test and treat common illnesses like flu and COVID-19. If approved, the measure will expand access to care and allow pharmacies to provide reimbursable health services as prescribed by board protocols. The Daily Record

- ➤ On March 7, four West Holmes wrestlers qualified for the Division II state tournament at Gallia Academy District. Senior Peyton Martin won the 120-pound title while Louden Dixon, Easton Ross and Gabe Umstead finished in the top four. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Under coach Jake Shoup, Norwayne girls basketball has become a state contender and will play in its second straight Division V State Final Four on Friday, Mar. 13.
