CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Jane Austen Ball will occur from 7 to 10 p.m. March 28 at Wayne Center for the Arts, 237 S. Walnut St. The event offers live music and beginner instruction starting at 6:30 p.m., and encourages participants to wear period costumes or other dressy attire while switching partners. - ➤ Internationally acclaimed pianist Halida Dinova will perform on March 14 at 7 p.m. at Wayne Center for the Arts in Wooster as part of the center's concert series. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door and local band or orchestra students may attend free (by emailing Tiffany). The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Summer Stage Wooster will hold auditions for '1776 the Musical' on April 16 and April 17 from 6-9 p.m. at Wooster High School Performing Arts Center; callbacks are set for April 18 and show performances will take place in July. More audition details are available online. The Bargain Hunter

- ➤ OSU Extension Wayne Co. advises local farmers to apply spring nitrogen at the optimal growth stage for small grains as temperatures rise this March, beginning with rye before wheat. - ➤ Wooster freshman McKinnley Hackett set a school record and finished as the all-around state runner-up with a score of 37.825 at the OHSAA Gymnastics State Meet at Hilliard Bradley on March 7-8 - her performance marks the program's best achievement. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Norwayne beat Chippewa 52-33 on March 6 to earn a spot in the state semifinals (Division V) and will now face Portsmouth. Seniors led the team with skill and teamwork in the win. The Bargain Hunter
- ➤ Wooster girls basketball turned their season around by rising from a 3-21 record + finishing 12-12 and reaching the Division II district finals.
