COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Wayne County Health Department is partnering with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank to host a drive-through food pantry on March 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 244 W. South St. to help families facing food insecurity; over 120 families attended the February event.  The Daily Record
  • The Orrville American Legion Post 282 will celebrate its grand reopening on April 17 at 4 p.m. at 237 E. Market St. with a ribbon cutting, tours, food, raffles, and a 50/50 drawing — an event honoring local veteran Private Frank E. Cook that supports veteran services and community programs.  The Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Quota of Wayne County donated 10 voice amplification systems this morning to help teachers and support about 400 kids. The devices were installed in local classrooms at Cornerstone Elementary (Wooster), Rittman Elementary, Central Christian School (Kidron), and Wooster Christian, funded by community fundraising and a sponsorship from Star Strategies.  The Daily Record

  • Norwayne beat Chippewa 52-33 in Friday's regional final and will advance to the state Final Four next Friday at Wright State University in Dayton — a win that capped their 24-2 season led by guard Ava Maibach.  The Daily Record
