CULTURE NEWS

  • A total lunar eclipse is set to turn the full moon a blood red today — visible in Wooster around 3:44 a.m. if the weather cooperates. This rare eclipse is the only one in 2026, and no similar blood moon will appear until Dec. 2028.  The Daily Record
  • Good Stuff Summit will be held on Friday, April 10 at Ohio Star Theater east of Sugarcreek with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. and keynote speakers including Jon Gordon, Candice Dodds, and Rod Olson to discuss teamwork and leadership.  The Bargain Hunter

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Buckeye Career Center hosted its EMS Goes Live simulation on Feb. 21 to train 34 adult EMS students and Kent State Tuscarawas nursing students on emergency response across its campus. The exercise involved realistic scenarios with support from local agencies + hospital experts.  The Bargain Hunter
  • Eight area students teamed with professional choreographers from Holmes Center for the Arts to perform a creative dance showcase on March 12 at Ohio Star Theater after 15 hours of rehearsals that pushed them beyond their comfort zones. Tickets are available at $15 for adults and $10 for students.  The Daily Record
  • Parents should pre-register their child for next year's Union Local kindergarten by calling the school between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. (March 2–20), with screenings scheduled for May 15, 18, 19, 20 and 21.  The Bargain Hunter

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry offers a cost-share program that pays $700 per acre for treating hemlock woolly adelgid in woodlands (1 to 25 acres); local landowners may apply through March 20. Treatment workshops are scheduled for April and May.  The Bargain Hunter
