Good morning, Wooster.

On Feb. 19, at First Presbyterian Church in Wooster (sponsored by Commercial and Savings Bank), Killbuck District honored John Veney as 2026 Scouter of the Year and recognized five new Eagle Scouts from local communities.

A letter to the editor noted Wooster honored Jesse Owens by naming a street after him to celebrate his four Olympic gold medals and acknowledge Black history, marking a local commitment to achievements once overlooked.

The note connects the tribute to our community’s long journey toward equality.

Laurie Sidle, an OSU Extension assistant, helped Wooster residents stay motivated this winter by sharing practical tips from Ayelet Fishbach’s research.

Sidle’s advice includes gamifying progress, using visual trackers, and celebrating small wins to keep daily routines enjoyable despite the cold.

Voting is open for the Wayne/Holmes County Athlete of the Week contest featuring top swimmers from Feb.

16-21; cast your vote by 5 p.m. today on the Wooster Daily Record poll.
