EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Eight Wayne County districts and two Holmes County districts received a combined $280,000 in bus safety grants to upgrade school buses (announced by Gov. Mike DeWine and Stephen D. Dackin on Jan. 26). The grants are part of a $10 million state effort to ensure safer student travel. The Daily Record
- ➤ Registration is open for the 2026 Ohio Small Farm Conference +Sowing Seeds for Success+ at Arden Shisler Center in Wooster on March 14 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Early bird registration at $95 ends Jan. 31; the event features breakout sessions, vendors and a stress management keynote. - ➤ The Blue Ribbon General 4-H Club met on Jan. 18 (West Chester United Methodist Church) to elect officers and plan fundraiser ideas, project requirements, and the updated livestock sale order for the county fair. - ➤ The Ohio Department of Natural Resources released over 36 million fish across 233 locations in 2025, including many in east central counties. A $6.5 million restoration at Shreve Lake in Wayne County reopened with new features to improve local fishing opportunities. The Daily Record

- ➤ Wooster Orthopaedic will operate as Bloomington Orthopedics starting Feb. 1 after joining with Wooster Community Hospital Health System and Bloomington Medical Services; the team will keep providing services in Wooster, Orrville, and Millersburg. The Daily Record
