GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Public Properties Maintenance Division uses roughly 4,000 tons of de-icer on 315 lane miles of roads and cul-de-sacs and begins plowing when snowfall exceeds two inches. *They prioritize main roads and emergency routes* to keep city streets safe during winter storms. The Daily Record
- ➤ The City of Wooster declared a snow emergency on Friday, Jan. 23 as heavy snow and ice made transportation hazardous. Parking enforcement began two hours after the announcement and will continue until officials complete plowing operations. The Daily Record
- ➤ Ohio and the IRS will start accepting 2025 tax returns on Monday, Jan. 26. The new law lets workers deduct up to $25,000 on tips & overtime, refunds generally come in under 21 days, and returns or extensions are due by April 15. The Daily Record

- ➤ The American Red Cross says blood supply is down 35% and is holding drives across Wayne and Holmes counties. In Wooster, a drive will be held at the College of Wooster on Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (donors by Jan. 25 may win a Super Bowl trip). The Daily Record
