EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twenty-four students will compete in the Wayne County Spelling Bee on Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Orrville High School auditorium (rescheduled for Jan. 22 if inclement weather).  The Daily Record
  • The Northwestern Wayne FFA chapter competed on Dec. 11 at Norwayne High School in the District Food Science CDE—a contest focusing on food product development, presentation and safety, and the team took fourth place.  The Daily Record
  • High school special education students from Wayne, Ashland and Holmes counties participated in an arts day at Wayne Center for the Arts on Jan. 9 as part of Tri-County ESC’s Project Partnership program. They rotated through pottery, visual arts, drama and creative movement workshops before ending with Dancing Wheels' performance.  The Daily Record
  • Triway High School inducted 18 new National Honor Society members on Jan. 11; chapter officers (Sophia James, Matthew Kennedy, and Loretta Johnson) led the ceremony, recognizing seniors, juniors, and sophomores for their academic achievements.  The Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hillsdale's point guard Lowen Ferguson scored 31 points in Friday night's road win over Norwayne (67-64), snapping a 34-game home winning streak. Coach Ben Ferguson said the team is adjusting to a faster pace and new offensive plays as they move ahead this season.  The Daily Record
